Can Microcement Base be applied over existing tiles?

Yes. With KC Primer (Adhesion Promoter) specified to the substrate, Microcement Base bonds directly to ceramic and porcelain tiles, mosaic, sealed concrete, screed, gypsum plaster and plasterboard — no tile removal, no dust, no demolition on most Irish renovations.

How many coats and how thick?

Two coats on walls (maximum 1 mm per coat, 1–3 mm system). On floors, always three coats with the 50 g fibreglass mesh embedded in the fresh base coat.

Microcement Base is a two-component product: mix each 10 kg of powder with 3.0 L of Royal Resin . Sand with 80 grit between coats.

Microcement Base is the fibre-reinforced structural coat that every KCBerry microcement build-up sits on — a two-component microcement mixed with Royal Resin that bonds to tile, plaster, concrete and screed and gives the finish system a flat, crack-resistant foundation. Seamless microcement over tiles — no demolition

Microcement Base is the reason a KCBerry system can be applied straight over an existing tiled shower, an old kitchen splashback or a screeded floor without ripping anything out. Combined with KC Primer (Adhesion Promoter) specified to the substrate, it grips ceramic, porcelain, mosaic, cement and gypsum substrates and delivers a monolithic underlay for the finish coat.

The result is a jointless surface built up in 1–3 mm — no grout lines to mould, no coldspots, no tile chatter underfoot.

Fibre-reinforced strength for Irish floors and walls

On floors, Microcement Base is always applied in three coats with the 50 g fibreglass mesh embedded in the fresh base coat — the layer that bridges hairline movement in the substrate and stops it telegraphing through the finish. Independently tested to EN 13892: compressive strength ≥31.5 N/mm², flexural ≥9.7 N/mm² and bond strength ≥1.25 N/mm².
