Microcement Base is the fibre-reinforced structural coat that every KCBerry microcement build-up sits on — the layer that bonds directly to tile, plaster, concrete, screed, plywood and MDF and gives the finish system a flat, crack-resistant foundation. Two thin trowel passes with an embedded fibreglass mesh form a 1–2 mm underlay engineered specifically for retrofit surfaces across Ireland, from Dublin bathrooms to Cork kitchens.

Seamless microcement over tiles — no demolition
Microcement Base is the reason a KCBerry system can be applied straight over an existing tiled shower, an old kitchen splashback or a screeded floor without ripping anything out. Combined with our KC Primer specified to the substrate, it grips ceramic, porcelain, mosaic, cement, gypsum and timber substrates and delivers a monolithic underlay for the finish coat.
The result is a jointless surface built up in 2–3 mm — no grout lines to mould, no coldspots, no tile chatter underfoot.
Fibre-reinforced strength for Irish floors and walls
The mesh embedded between the first and second Base pass bridges hairline movement in the substrate — critical on retrofit floors, over old screeds, and on plasterboard walls that would otherwise telegraph cracks through a thin finish. Every KCBerry finish system — Microtraffic, Micronoslip, Poolciment, Microfinishing and Pure Lime — is designed to sit on this exact base.
What's in the bag
A 20 kg bag of Microcement Base covers roughly 8–10 m² of finished substrate at ~1.2 kg/m² per pass. Mix with water and Royal Resin per the datasheet, trowel two passes with mesh in between, then sand flat before the finish coat.
